Kehinde Wiley is an American portrait artist whose large-scale paintings and sculptures engage the visual rhetoric of the heroic, powerful, majestic, and sublime in his representation of urban, black, and brown men and women he meets throughout the world. For over fifteen years, Wiley has variously drawn on William Morris' iconic floral designs to embellish the backgrounds of these works.
