Kapwani Kiwanga: The Length of the Horizon

With an anthropologist’s eye, artist Kapwani Kiwanga imagines what occurs beyond the narrative of recorded history.

Released on the occasion of their first major exhibition in Scandinavia of the same name, The Length of the Horizon highlights Kiwanga's exploration of social mechanisms and power relations. Before becoming an artist, Kiwanga studied anthropology and comparative religion in her native Canada. As a trained anthropologist and religious scholar, this background informs her multimedia installations building off her research on racism, colonialism and the African diaspora.
