This is a collection of over seventy-five catalogues organized, exhibited, or published by the Studio Museum in Harlem. The sale of these catalogues, and accompanying exhibition posters, spanning from 1969 to 2019, provides a rare opportunity to collect a piece of the Studio Museum’s archival history.
Founded in 1968 by a diverse group of artists, community activists, and philanthropists, the Studio Museum has championed a radical vision that showcases and highlights the work of both emerging and established, often overlooked, artists of African descent. The Museum encourages artistic development through its robust Artist-in-Residence program, unique art education outreach, tailored neighborhood engagement, and a publishing program. The publishing program, in particular, has created a permanent record rooted in interpretation and preservation.
