Echoes: Prisons, U.S.A is the accompanying catalogue for the Benny Andrews guest curated exhibition at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 1976.
Echoes: Prisons, U.S.A., organized with the Prison Art Program of the Black Emergency Cultural Coalition, provided a platform for the work and words of prior prison inmates to exist and be considered as fine art—regardless of their artistic accomplishment and the location of where they created their art.
Artists and inmates in this exhibition range in mediums from sculpting to painting and include Weldon Fossey, Joe Gaines, Tony Higgins, Jeff Honnwea. James Andrew Johnson, Sekou Lasana (Ronald King), Akili Nali (Ralph Thompson), Leroy Lockwood
Carole Ramer, and Demetri Thor.
Exhibition: Echoes: Prisons, U.S.A., October 24-November 28, 1976
